| Day 4
Off to a safari tomorrow for 4 days. I'm doing a camping safari in
Maasai Mara - the best in Kenya - for 3 days. The last will be spent in
Nakuru, famous for the lake with the flamingos and rhinos. Sometime
during the course of the safari will be spent visiting a Masai village.
A bit on the Kenyan people - very polite and helpful, despite how
menacing they may look. Very impressive is the fact that everyone
speaks fluent English and how the language is infused into the society
- radio, newspaper, news broadcasts in English.
No diarrhea yet. Dukoral works.

| Day 1 Toronto - Amsterdam
19:00. if you can, for just a moment, imagine yourself placed in
a seating arrangement that had a foul-smelling man to the right who
can't seem to stop shaking his legs, drunk and talking to himself, and
occasionally raises his arm so that his wonderful scent travels through
the already stale air of a plane, and a couple with two absolute
devil-children sitting in front, you may just get a glimpse of my hell
en route to amsterdam.
i got to nairobi at 830pm. good thing i had a driver pick me up. if i didn't, i wouldn't still be a virgin.
Day 2 Nairobi
walking downtown by myself. i had a walking route all planned
out, but alas, downtown nairobi is as interesting as watching your shit
in the toilet, and just about as beautiful. was downtown for a
few hours. didn't get harassed as much as i had
anticipated. i didn't take too many photos since bringing out a
digicam is practically calling people to beat you with a stick and
mugging you.
went out at night with another solo traveller to a bar and played pool. drank 3L of beer.
Day 3
3L of beer and not much water afterwards causes headaches in the
morning. i and the guy i hung out with last night took a matatu
(a really packed minibus) to a giraffe centre. the drive on the
matatu was alone an interesting experience as it brought us close to
death many times. on the bus, we met a young man campaigning to
be the future president of Africa. he was very annoying, but
stayed with us the whole day and acted as a guide. he walked us
to the giraffe place, and brought us to an orphanage near the
place. it was pretty depressing seeing the children there, many
of them HIV positive. the place was also a school, so at nights,
the children sleep (in horrible conditions) on the floor and the place
converts into a classroom during the days.
on the bus home, an argument erupted between the ticket guy and a drunk
passenger who didn't want to pay. we were sitting in between the
fight. an interesting day - the future president of kenya being
my guide and escaping death. i wonder what tomorrow brings.

| hello. okay, okay..it's been a while, blahblahblah..busy this and that, etc..
just wanted to write that my sis gave birth to a healthy boy on saturday. it's surreal, to say the least. my parents are absolutely delighted and it's good seeing them like this. they visit twice a day. i still haven't held the baby yet. i'm just too scared to. i think when i do, i'll sit on a thick carpet and have a net under my arms, just in case. you never know.
hope everyone else is doing well.

i think i must have logged on half a dozen times since May, always meaning to write something about life post-japan, but when i actually try to, i stop. i don:t know why. maybe it:s because i haven:t completely filtered out the things to say, or not say. or maybe things are much too private to be spewing on to a public forum. well, just be patient. o.O
